Kathmandu Podway Could Cut Urban Carbon Emissions by 30%, Experts Say

Kathmandu — Environmental experts are praising the Kathmandu Podway project as a sustainable transport solution that could drastically reduce the city’s air pollution levels.
According to a recent study by the Nepal Urban Mobility Institute, switching just 20% of Kathmandu's daily commuters to electric podway transport could result in a 30% drop in transport-related carbon emissions.
“The Podway uses clean electricity and doesn’t require fossil fuels,” said sustainability researcher Anita Karki. “This aligns perfectly with Nepal’s climate goals.”
The government has also hinted at offering carbon credits and subsidies to support long-term viability.
